The School of Computer and Information Science was founded in 2000 as one of the first enrollment colleges of our university. After 20 years of exploration and reform, the School of Computer and Information Science focuses on three key undergraduate programs: Electronic Information Engineering, Information Engineering, and Software Engineering. The Electronic Information Engineering program was established in 2001, Information Engineering in 2006, and Software Engineering in 2013. In 2013, the teaching team of the Information Engineering program was recognized as an Excellent Teaching Team in Jilin Province. In 2015, the Information Engineering program was selected as a pilot program for the Excellent Engineer Education and Training Plan in higher education institutions in Jilin Province. In 2017, it was approved for one of the first New Engineering research projects in Jilin Province. In 2019, the computer program cluster was recognized as a demonstration program cluster for transformation and development in Jilin Province, and School of Computer and Information Science was approved as a “dual-qualified” teacher training base. In 2021, the Information Engineering program was approved as a first-class undergraduate program in Jilin Province. In 2023, it was approved as a Jilin Provincial Education Research Base and selected as a pilot program for the Excellent Engineer Education and Training Plan 2.0. The research area of Computer Technology and Communication Technology was established as one of the first research teams in Boda College.

Since 2013, the School of Computer and Information Science has carried out in-depth industry-university cooperation with leading domestic IT companies, achieving order-based student training in joint programs. The School of Computer and Information Science implements a 3+1 training model: the first three academic years are spent on general education, disciplinary fundamentals, and professional courses on campus, with some professional courses taught or guided by industry engineers, and students are arranged for professional internships at companies. The fourth academic year is devoted to enterprise-based training, internships, and employment. The School of Computer and Information Science has maintained a high employment rate and quality of employment over the past three years. Many graduates have pursued master's degrees at well-known domestic universities, including Beijing Normal University, Jilin University, Nanjing University of Science and Technology, Minzu University of China, and Northeast Normal University.

The School of Computer and Information Science emphasizes teaching, with excellent laboratory facilities. On-campus facilities include the Electrical and Electronic Laboratory, Communication Technology Laboratory, Mobile Internet Laboratory, Software Engineering Laboratory, IT Training Laboratory, Algorithm Training Laboratory, Artificial Intelligence Laboratory, multiple computer labs, and large-screen projection classrooms. Off-campus, the School of Computer and Information Science has multiple internship and training bases in Shenyang, Dalian, Changchun, Beijing, Rongcheng, Suzhou, providing excellent teaching and practical conditions.

Currently, the School of Computer and Information Science has national and provincial first-class teaching platforms, including a National Innovation and Entrepreneurship Practice Center (Chinasoft Group), Provincial Higher Education Talent Training Research Base, Provincial Student Innovation and Entrepreneurship Park, and Provincial Dual-Qualified Teacher Training Base. It has developed provincial-level “golden courses,” Wisdom Tree online courses, key provincial textbooks, and textbooks for the 14th Five-Year Plan, effectively ensuring the completion of experimental, practical, and innovation and entrepreneurship teaching tasks for all programs.

The School of Computer and Information Science emphasizes comprehensive talent development, actively participates in competitions, and promotes learning and teaching through contests. In recent years, students have achieved national and regional awards in programming competitions, electronic design competitions, Internet+ College Student Innovation and Entrepreneurship Competition, artificial intelligence competitions, and the Blue Bridge Cup. Graduates are highly capable and welcomed by employers, maintaining a high level of employment and employment quality in recent years.

For many years, the School of Computer and Information Science has adhered to the development philosophy of “solidifying basic skills, emphasizing professional strengths, and strengthening characteristic development,” aiming to cultivate high-quality, application-oriented innovative talents, and has supplied numerous talents to schools and enterprises nationwide.
