The School of Physical Education (formerly the Department of Physical Education) is one of the earliest established majors at Jilin Normal University Boda College. Approved by the Ministry of Education, it officially enrolled its first undergraduate class in 2002. In 2019, in accordance with the development needs of the university, the former Department of Physical Education and the Military Physical Education Department were merged to form the School of Physical Education. It currently offers the Physical Education program and the Sports Training program (a three-year college program), with approximately 580 students enrolled. The school offers specialized elective courses in sports such as football, basketball, volleyball, table tennis, badminton, and tennis. The school boasts a high-level faculty team, currently consisting of 28 staff members (24 full-time teachers and 4 administrative personnel). This includes 1 International Referee for Speed Skating and National Referee for Swimming, 1 National Level 1 Referee for Tennis, 1 Class E High-Level Talent of Jilin Province, 3 professors, 5 associate professors, 5 lecturers, 2 teachers with doctoral degrees, 3 teachers currently pursuing doctoral degrees, and 100% of teachers hold a master's degree or higher. The school is equipped with comprehensive teaching and training facilities, including one indoor sports arena with a total area of approximately 17,636 square meters, housing gymnasiums for basketball, volleyball, tennis, table tennis, martial arts, aerobics, gymnastics, badminton, and physical fitness training. Outdoors, there are numerous venues including football fields, basketball courts, volleyball courts, tennis courts, a roller-skating rink, and an ice rink. In 2021, the school was honored as a Provincial Model Party Branch Cultivation and Creation Unit, and in 2022, it was honored as a National Model Party Branch Cultivation and Creation Unit. The school adheres to the cultivation of teachers' educational abilities and has supplied a large number of physical education talents to primary and secondary schools across the country. Since 2012, many students have successfully been admitted to master's degree programs at universities such as Northeast University, Northeast Normal University, Yanbian University, Shanghai University of Sport, Tianjin University of Sport, and Xi'an Physical Education University.

Physical Education (Teacher Education)

Educational Objectives: This major follows the concept of cultivating talents with strong foundation, wide caliber, strong ability and high quality, and cultivates all-round development of morality, intelligence, physique, beauty and labor. It has the concept of modern education and health education, systematically grasps the basic theory, skills and methods of physical education, has strong abilities in physical education teaching, sports technology and event organization, and can be competent for applied talents in various occupations such as physical education, training and management.

Program Features:The Physical Education program emphasizes both its teacher-training nature and applicability. Aiming to cultivate excellent physical education teachers, it focuses on developing students' practical application abilities of "excelling in one specialty and possessing multiple skills." It constructs a theoretical and practical system for physical education under the concept of "Building a Leading Sports Nation," serving the construction of a Healthy China by adjusting the curriculum, optimizing talent cultivation, and promoting transformational development.

Duration: Full-time junior college major with a three-year academic system.

Career Directions: Coach, Social Sports Instructor, Sports Training, and related management personnel.
