School of Chinese Language and Literature
The School of Chinese Language and Literature (formerly the Department of Chinese Language and Literature) is one of the earliest schools established at Jilin Normal University Boda College, founded in 2000. It currently offers the Chinese Language and Literature program. The School has 35 full-time and part-time faculty members, with over 97% holding a master's degree or higher. In 2011, the Chinese Language and Literature program was rated as a Characteristic Program of Jilin Province during the "Twelfth Five-Year Plan" period. In 2012, the teaching team for the Chinese Language and Literature program was rated as an Excellent Teaching Team in Jilin Province. In 2019, the program received a Grade B in the Comprehensive Evaluation of Chinese Language and Literature Programs in Jilin Province's Universities and Colleges.
Adhering to the spirit of being diligent in learning, steadfast in practice, seeking truth, and innovating, the School of Chinese Language and Literature takes the inheritance of national culture and the cultivation of pillars of the state as its mission. It follows the talent cultivation philosophy centered on "Quality, Knowledge, Ability" in teaching, persists in the teacher education direction, and focuses on cultivating qualified primary and secondary school teachers, forming distinct characteristics. From 2016 to 2024, 260 students from the School were admitted to master's degree programs at universities such as Tianjin University, Northeast Normal University, University of Science and Technology Beijing, and Anhui Normal University, with an average postgraduate admission rate of 8.1%.
Chinese Language and Literature (Teacher Education)
Educational Objectives:This program cultivates application-oriented talents with good ideological, moral, and physical/psychological qualities, a solid foundation in Chinese language and literature, a good sense of humanities and social sciences literacy, familiarity with the fundamentals of Chinese language and literature, strong learning ability, practical skills, and Chinese language expression skills, high Chinese language proficiency and preliminary research ability in linguistics and literature, mastery of scientific educational concepts and basic teaching skills, who can adapt to the needs of modern social development. Graduates will be capable of undertaking Chinese language teaching and research work in basic education and vocational education fields, as well as working in cultural, publishing, media organizations, government agencies, and other enterprises and institutions in roles related to language application.
Training Requirements:Students in this program primarily study basic knowledge of the Chinese language and Chinese/foreign literature, receiving systematic education in relevant theories, historical development, research status, and basic training in teacher professional abilities.
Core Courses:Writing, Introduction to Literature, Modern Chinese, Classical Chinese, Ancient Chinese Literature, Modern and Contemporary Chinese Literature, Foreign Literature, Introduction to Linguistics, etc.

Program Features:
1. Distinct Teacher Education Characteristic.
The program has established a curriculum system and practical teaching training system focusing on four modules: standardized Chinese character writing and written expression skills, Putonghua and teacher oral expression skills, micro-lesson production for middle school Chinese language teaching, and classroom teaching design and implementation ability, to enhance students' teacher professional competence.
2. Exploring the Construction of a Core Literacy System for Teacher-Trainees through the "Educating through Culture" Project.
Focusing on four core literacies – teacher ethics literacy, mother tongue and excellent traditional Chinese culture literacy, Chinese language education teaching literacy, and innovation literacy – the program emphasizes cultivating students' educational sentiment, integrating course teaching with educational sentiment. It aims to strengthen teacher-trainees' concept of fostering virtue through education, encourage them to proactively go to and stay in rural areas, and contribute to the revitalization of rural education. It continuously promotes the "Threefold Cultural Education" project: educating through characters, educating through literature, and educating through culture.
3. Leading with "Academic Competitions" to Expand Practical Education Channels.
The School leads with competitions such as recitation, lesson plan design, teaching exposition, blackboard design, and lecturing to carry out characteristic practical education activities. The ultimate goal is to realize the model of "Cultivating Morality through Culture, Cultivating Wisdom through Three Originals, Cultivating Talent through Three Integrations". This is achieved by closely integrating cultural, literary, and linguistic courses with ideological and political education to "cultivate morality"; using "guided reading of original classics, teaching of original creations, cultivation of original works" to "cultivate wisdom"; and integrating language and literature with different disciplines such as philosophy and history to "cultivate talent", thereby producing high-quality, application-oriented, interdisciplinary, and compound talents who meet major local cultural strategies and the significant demands of the digital era for Chinese language.
